Kentucky Commission on Human Rights meets

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights (KCHR) held its monthly meeting recently at the Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College campus in Cumberland.The KCHR is the state government authority that enforces laws prohibiting discrimination on behalf of the people of Kentucky. Motorcycle benefit ride to be held Sunday

County to replace tile in Black Bottom

Replacing tile in the Black Bottom area of Loyall was discussed during a recent meeting of the Loyall City Council. Councilwoman Trenna Cornett said the tile is caving in and is in need of repair.Cornett said she was told the county planned to take the tile out and leave it an open ditch. Evarts man arrested for burglary

An Evarts man is facing a burglary charge after allegedly taking items including wedding rings and wedding bands from a LeJunior home.Joey David Lewis, 32, was arrested on Wednesday by Kentucky State Police Trooper Kevin Miller.According to the citation, Lewis entered the home of Jerri Miracle at 149 Witt Road. Tens of millions of Kentucky hemlock trees are at risk from a bug—just 1/16 of an inch in size — that literally sucks the life out of the tree by feeding on the starches that are the tree’s food source.
