The Kentucky State Police received a call of an armed robbery on U.S.119 in the Wallins community this morning.
KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs said according to the victim, Kelley Smith, two white males walked into the middle of the roadway in front of him while he was driving toward Harlan on U.S.119. One of the individuals entered into the passenger seat and demanded Smith drive to Longton Road and stop the vehicle. Smith was assaulted and ordered to exit the vehicle after being threatened with a knife.
Kentucky State Police troopers are looking for the stolen vehicle, a Gray 2006 4-door Nissan Altima, with the Friends of Coal tag number 9635DM.
The only description the victim could give was two white males, wearing T-shirts and shorts.
Smith was transported by vehicle to Harlan ARH Hospital for his injuries.
Trooper Jared Boggs is investigating the incident.
