Harlan County sheriff’s deputies have located and arrested a man who had been evading capture for months.

James Stevens, 45, of Cawood, was arrested on Tuesday by Deputy Mitch Alford on two counts of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine).

According to Alford, Stevens had been in hiding for several months. Information received through an anonymous tip led deputies to a residence on Jack Stevens Road in Smith. Alford said the residence was surrounded and Stevens was arrested.

Deputies Matt Cope, Danny Lewis and Travis Freeman along with Chaplain Chris Hickey assisted in the arrest.

Stevens was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.
