An Ages man was sentenced in Harlan Circuit Court for possession of child pornography on Thursday.
Clarence P. Curtis, 27, Ages, stood in front of Judge James Bowling for sentencing on multiple charges of possession of child pornography. Curtis was convicted by jury trial about four months ago.
According to previous reports, Curtis was indicted following an investigation that found child pornography materials stored on Curtis’ computer and tracked through his IP address. Curtis had been utilizing Limewire, a file sharing program, to download and distribute child pornography.
During his trial, the jury viewed the material in question, heard testimony from the detectives that investigated the case and Curtis himself. After a short deliberation, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all 15 counts, recommending one year in prison for each count to run consecutively. Bowling remanded Curtis into custody pending sentencing. He has been in custody since being convicted.
Bowling followed the jury’s recommendation, sentencing Curtis to one year in prison on each count to run consecutively for a total of 15 years in prison. Curtis is required to register as a sex offender.
Bowling informed Curtis he has 30 days from the date of sentencing to file an appeal.
In other court activity:
* Randy R. Perry was sentenced to two years in prison, probated for two years on a charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;
* Michael R. Milwee was sentenced to three years in prison on the commonwealth’s attorney’s recommendation;
* Jessica Combs was sentenced on multiple counts of possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception to three years in prison, probated for five years supervised. Combs will also be required to pay $8,137.67 in restitution;
* Brandy Cantrell was sentenced to two years in prison on the state’s recommendation. Cantrell was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $140;
* Anthony Randall was sentenced upon the state’s recommendation to three years, probated for a period of five years on a charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance. Randall was also ordered to pay $150 in restitution;
* Chris Saylor was sentenced to five years, probated for three years supervised on the state’s recommendation. Saylor must also pay $922.26 in restitution.
