A Baxter man faces drug charges following a traffic stop by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office. Donnie Davenport, 46, was arrested by Deputy Dee Dee Ulbrich on Thursday.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Davenport was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Harlan County Detention Center.
The press release states after lodging Davenport in the Harlan Detention Center, Ulbrich and Deputy Chris Brewer found one hand rolled cigarette believed to contain marijuana stuffed under the back seat of Ulbrich’s cruiser. While conducting a search on Davenport at the Harlan County Detention Center, Harlan County Deputy Jailer Ken Casteel found several pills inside Davenport’s shoe.
Davenport was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and promoting contraband.
Davenport was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $15,000 full cash bond.
Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Cope and Harlan City Police Officer Terry Jacobs assisted with the traffic stop. Deputy Chris Brewer also assisted with the case.
In other police activity:
* Kevin Shawn Hubbard, 22, of Cumberland, was arrested Tuesday by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and charged with receiving stolen property. Hubbard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond.
