A Harlan man was arrested Monday on charges stemming from a Jan. 4 incident during which he allegedly stomped a dog to death.
Patrick Hubbard, 29, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Freeman and charged with two counts of second-degree burglary.
According to an arrest warrant, Hubbard unlawfully entered the home of Bill Shipman by barging through the door. Hubbard then proceeded to kick and stomp Shipman’s dog, causing the dog’s death.
A criminal complaint filed against Hubbard states that on the same day Hubbard entered the residence of Lawrence Smith by barging through the door. Hubbard then began to assault Smith, causing him physical injury.
Hubbard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.

* Kelly Pennington, 26, of Bledsoe, was arrested by Harlan City Police officer Mike Ashurst on Tuesday. Pennington is charged with theft by deception including cold checks under $10,000 and theft by deception including cold checks under $500. Pennington was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond;
* Joe Johnson Jr., 18, of Coldiron, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper James Earl Hensley on Wednesday on a charge of receiving stolen property under $10,000. Johnson was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond requiring 10 percent cash.

time for stomping the dog than beating up
the old man. I would say truth be known this is pertaining to a drug related matterlike everything else around here in
Harlan county. We need a federal Marshall big time.
Beating a man up is one thing.
But stomping a poor little helpless dog?
