The Harlan County Domestic Violence Counsel hosted the annual “Fight Like a Girl” women’s self-defense seminar at Verda on Saturday. This free hands-on seminar provided strategies and tactics to help women survive a violent encounter and was presented by Daniel Howard, center, owner of Howard’s Gyodokan Kempo Karate, who has an 8th degree black belt. Assisting him was his son, Justin, left, who has a second-degree black belt, and his daughter, Taylor, right, who is a junior black belt.
