The New Harlan Patriots opened the regular season in impressive fashion with a 44-0 victory at Evarts in seventh- and eighth-grade football action on Tuesday.
Tyler Scearse opened the scoring with a 53-yard run with 4:36 left in the first quarter. Kennon Napier ran in the two-point conversion.
Rhett Alred later raced in from 28-yards out with 2:47 remaining in the opening period. Napier again added the two-point conversion to push the lead to 16-0.
Tommy North scored New Harlan’s third touchdown with a 16-yard run just after the start of the second quarter. Napier’s two-point conversion made it 24-0.
Stapleton tacked on another touchdown with a 9-yard. Napier added the two-point run to make it 32-0 at the half.
Screarse opened the scoring in the second half with a 50-yard run.
Christian Hall scored the scoring with 55-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.

The Evarts Wildcats downed New Harlan 28-0 in the fifth- and sixth-grade contest.
Christian Jones scored from 36-yards out with 3:03 remaining in the first quarter to give Evarts (1-0) the early lead. Brendan Osborne ran in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.
After forcing the Patriots to punt on the ensuing possession, Brendan Osborne broke free for a 58-yard run to move the ball into New Harlan territory. Osborne later capped the drive with a 7-yard score with 4:34 left before the half.
Osborne added another touchdown when he scored from 34-yards out with just 39 second left before halftime. Jones added the two-point conversion to push the lead to 22-0.
Osborne tacked on the game’s final touchdown with a 77-yard run with 3:41 left in the contest.
Evarts returns to action Thursday at Pineville, while New Harlan will host Cumberland on Aug. 23.
