From a small town girl to becoming an actress in movies, television and music videos, Harlan County native Ashley Parker, now using her screen name of Ashe Parker, has not forgotten her roots.

“I still live in Harlan and nothing pleases me more than to have one of my many Harlan County supporters walk up and tell me how excited they are about my career as an actress,” said Parker. “I appreciate each and every one of them.”

Appearing in the movies “Dorothy and the Witches of Oz,” “Woman in the Mirror,” “Stand Like a Mountain,” “Cedar Swamp” and “Cry for Blood,” Parker said she is gearing up for another role in a horror film directed by Lee Scott entitled “The Penny Dreadful Picture Show, Volume 2.” She went on to say Director Lee Scott told her she was “a natural actress” and he has talked to her about having a bigger role in the “Dorothy and the Witches of Oz” sequel.

Parker has also appeared on the Discovery ID Channel in “Sins and Secrets” and KVillians’ music video “Unfinished Business,” available for viewing online Feb. 27.

“After the loss of my father Gary Parker in 2010, I threw myself into acting to help cope with the loss,” said Parker. “It was during this time I met Terry Muncy and was given the lead part in “Stand Like a Mountain.” I’m so happy Terry saw something and believed in me the first day we met. I guess you could say he gave me my first taste of acting and I fell in love with it. Through my acting experience in “Stand Like a Mountain” I met so many people, which led to me being cast in other movies, television and a music video.”

Growing up with two older athletic brothers, Ashe participated in cheerleading, played basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis and golf. She cherishes the game of golf because it was a sport her father really loved.

“I appreciate the small things in life, but I’m always ready to take on great challenges,” said Parker. “I’m a small town girl who is determined to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way. The most important part of my life, by far, and my biggest fan is my 4-year-old daughter, Bella Grace, who lights up my life every day.”
