Shirley Caudill Whitaker, 71, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, KY following a brief illness. She was a native of Letcher County, and had lived in Cumberland most of her life. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Blair Chapel Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband the late David Whitaker, and her parents Fred Caudill, and Florence Carter Eldridge.

Shirley is survived by three children, Gary Whitaker and wife Deedee, of Morristown, TN; Sandra Fields and husband David, of Cumberland, KY; and Greg Whitaker, of Rutledge, TN; brothers Carroll Stamper, and wife Lena, Herbert Eldridge, and wife Sandy, Larry Eldridge, and wife Debbie, all of Hallie, KY; and Bobby Eldridge and wife Phyllis, of Eola, KY; Sister Mary Adams, and husband James of Eola, KY; four grandchildren Jeff Whitaker, Stephanie Whitaker, Megan Fields Hurt, and Jonathan Fields, and a special great grandson Jaxon Hurt. And a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Blair Chapel Church from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2 pm with Rod Raleigh, Bill Maggard, and Woodrow Fields officiating. Following the funeral services burial will be held in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery.

Jim T. Whitaker, Roger Raleigh, Jim Maggard, Jeff Beach, Greg Creech, Hal Woods, and Alvin Chandler will serve as pallbearers. Rayburn Doss and Caleb Bailey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
