Shirley Ruth Howard, 77, of Hulen, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. She was a native of Harlan County and believed in the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in by her parents, Mason Rose and Lucy Virginia Rose; and one daughter, Barbara Howard.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Powell Howard, Hulen; three children, Mason Howard and wife Ruth, Wallins; William Howard and wife Elmeda, Sweetwater, TN; and Byron Howard, Corbin; one brother, Jerry Rose and wife Shelby, Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the New Creech Cemetery, Wallins, KY with Reverend Freeman Clark officiating.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
