Phyllis was born September 1, 1938 in Harlan to the late Virgil Hampton and Bitha Johnson Hampton Williams. She was a lifelong resident of Harlan and worked as a waitress for many years. She believed in the Baptist Faith.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Alonzo & Albert Hampton; sisters, Willie Mae Jones, Jewell Durham, and Laura Napier; step father, Bill Williams; step brother, Leon Williams.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Desta) Deaton, II, Barney (Marilyn) Deaton and Vickie R. Deaton all of Harlan; the father of her children, Donald Deaton of Harlan; grandchildren, Brittany Wilson, Mariah and Tiffany Deaton; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Easton Wilson; nieces and nephews, Claudine Johnson, Teresa Vanover, Linda Saylor, Kenny Napier, Debbie Harris, Josephine Middleton, Jimmy Napier, Sherry Hall, and George (Dickie) Cox; special friend, Joyce Blanton; brother & sister-in-laws, Morris & Phyllis Deaton, and Bonnie Phillips; she also leaves a host of great nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Sunday Jan. 6, 2013 from 2 until 4:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm in the Anderson-Laws & Jones Chapel with Rev. Jerry Collins and Bro. Kenny Clem officiating. Music will be provided by Jason Collins.
Graveside services will be Monday Jan. 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel.
