Man injured in motorcycle crash at Wallins

Kentucky State Police Trooper Kenny Sergent is investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred at Wallins Creek on Saturday that sent a man to Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn., with injuries.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs said Post 10 responded to the collision on KY 219.

Jacobs said a preliminary Investigation indicates that a 2001 Chevrolet Astro van operated by Roy Watkins, 76, of Wallins, was traveling west on KY 219. A 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle operated by Kerry Partin, 20, of Loyall was traveling east on KY 219.

The vehicle operated by Watkins was attempting to make a left turn onto Brooks Street. Watkins turned into the path of the motorcycle and at which time the motorcycle struck the passenger side rear causing the operator to be ejected.

Partin was cited for multiple traffic citations.

Sergent was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jared Boggs, the Wallins Volunteer Fire Department and Harlan EMS. While on the scene, Boggs arrested Nicholas Partin, of Wallins Creek.

Boggs said Nicholas Partin was being disorderly at the scene and he was arrested on a menacing charge.

He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. He was released on Sunday on a surety bond.
