Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, the keepers of traditions that linger on in cherished memory. Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. Their very special love sets them apart. Through happiness and sorrow, through their special love and caring, grandparents keep a family close at heart. Surely, two of the most satisfying experiences in life must be those of being a grandchild or a grandparent.

The Harlan Daily Enterprise will once again publish the annual Grandparents Sweetheart Special on Feb. 14. This is one time during the year when grandparents have the opportunity to show off their adorable grandchildren. This year, the Enterprise has a new layout crew, especially trained in techniques to provide a top quality special section featuring grandchildren from across the county.

Featuring your grandchild so that others may see your little cutie is a moment grandparents will never forget. Such moments become the best memories of your life and your grandchildren’s lives also.

In order to participate in this year’s special section you may send or bring a photo of your grandchild, along with the child’s name, grandparents name and address to the Enterprise office and we’ll place it in a heart. The heart sizes have been changed to the sizes used in 2009, which are larger and more attractive. Prices for the hearts have not changed from last year. Don’t wait until the last minute — bring your photos in today. The deadline is Feb. 1.

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance,” said Enterprise General Manager Alexander Gould. “They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, they love to brag about their grandchildren. We hope everyone will give us a chance to display their grandchildren in a valentine’s heart so this time in their life will be forever documented.”
