Harlan County snapped a three-game losing skid with a victory over 14th Region contender Leslie County on Thursday. The Lady Bears earned third-place in the inaugural girls WYMT Mountain Classic with a 64-51 win against the Lady Eagles at Knott Central High School.


Harlan County junior Bella Noe powered the offense with a 21-point effort. Noe hit eight of her 12 attempts from the field, while adding a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Brooklyn Massingill added 17 points for the Lady Bears. Massingill turned in an impressive performance from the perimeter, draining five 3-pointers in the contest.


Standout junior guard Katie Moore led the 8-7 Lady Eagles with 24 points. Junior center Brooke Asher added 13.


Leslie County fell 67-43 to 13th Region favorite Bell County in the first round of the WYMT Mountain Classic.


Harlan County (12-4) returns to action Thursday at home against Lee, Va. Leslie County (8-7) will face Wolfe County in the 14th Region All ‘A’ Classic on Wednesday.
