A trio of local runners competed in the state cross country meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington last weekend.
Harlan’s Mason Miller led the local competitors. The freshman runner finished 60th overall in the Class A race and was the fourth fastest frosh with a time of 18:44. Saturday’s race capped an impressive season for Miller, who placed third in the Southeastern Kentucky meet, fifth in the Area 9 race and fifth in Class A Region 6.
Louisville Collegiate’s Matthew Bode won the Class A boys title. Bishop Brossart claimed the Class A team championship, while St. Henry won the girls title.
Harlan County senior Kaitlyn Stittums came in 222nd place in the Class 3A girls race with a time of 25:02. Whitney O’Brien, of Daviess County, captured the individual title. Louisville Assumption won the team championship.
Harlan County’s Corey Hornsby finished 236th in the boys race with a time of 19:56. Louisville Butler’s Patrick Gregory captured the boys title, while Louisville St. Xavier won the Class 3A team title.
North Oldham won the boys Class 2A team title, while Highlands won the girls championship.
