Harold Wayne Howard left our earthly realm and went to be with our Heavenly Father on September 18, 2013. He was born on June 12, 1947 in Harlan County, Ky.

Wayne was loved by many and as we grieve, we must also rejoice because he now walks with Jesus and those that have gone before him, including his father Roy Howard. Wayne will not soon be forgotten by those he left behind. He had a love for life that brought a smile to many faces, mainly due to the pranks, jokes and stories or golly whoppers he was always telling. He touched too many lives to count. Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and when he returned married his wife of almost 44 years, Carol Miller Howard. He was also a founding member of the Harlan Honor Guard, helping to ensure that his fellow veterans were honored at burial. He was a Farm Bureau board member. In his recent years Wayne served as an Elder at the Poorfork Church of Christ, where he was a member for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Howard of Totz,Ky. Three daughters and their spouses: Angie & Brad Carpenter of Nashville, TN , Amy & Marshall Leffew of Earleville,MA , and Amber Howard of Bardstown,KY. In addition to those are his mother Ineda Howard of Putney, KY , his brother Leon & Teresa Howard of Morristown ,TN and sister Vickie & Rob Rhymer of Putney,KY. Wayne left behind one granddaughter, Autumn Hardy and three grandsons, Xander and Aiden Leffew and Dylan Hatcher. We know this is not goodbye, but simply until we meet again in Heaven. You will be missed son, brother, husband, Daddy, Papaw and friend.

Visitation services will be Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 5 pm until 7 pm with funeral services immediately following with James Forrester officiating the Services.
