Beth Howard’s fifth grade class at Black Mountain Elementary School studied various Native American cultures of North America. The class made tepees of the Plains Indians, ceremonial masks of the Southwest and totem poles of the Northwest. Students participated in a ceremonial rain dance using their masks.
