The Harlan Tourism and Convention Commission discussed a few past events as well as upcoming summer events during a meeting on Tuesday.
Harlan Tourism Director Brandon Pennington brought the panel up to speed on the results of the Sundy Best concert that was held at the Harlan Center about two weeks ago.
“We ended up with about 270 people at the concert,” said Pennington. “We came close to breaking even. We didn’t actually break even but at the same time this came a lot closer than the comedian did.”
Pennington said the concert came to within $150 of breaking even.
“It was a great show,” said Pennington. “Everyone had a great time.”
Pennington also informed the panel about an upcoming 5K run.
“We are now up to 286 pre-registered runners,” said Pennington. “We have raised $9,400.”
Pennington said there is still just under a month remaining to keep registering runners and raising money for the event.
“This past week we place order for T-shirts…which will cost about $1,500,” said Pennington. “We also ordered sunglasses for the runners today costing us about $300.”
Pennington said the race has already drawn registered runners from Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
