Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts Adam Edelen has released the audit of the 2012 financial statement of Harlan County Clerk Donna Hoskins.
According to a press release, no instances of noncompliance were found at the clerk’s office.
The release states there are some procedural issues.
“Recent changes in audit standards require the auditor’s letter to communicate whether the financial statement presents fairly the revenues, expenditures and excess fees of the Harlan County Clerk in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States,” reads the release. “The report found that the financial statement of the clerk did not follow this format, however, the clerk’s financial statement is fairly presented in conformity with the regulatory basis of accounting, which is an acceptable reporting methodology.”
There were no weaknesses found in with the internal control over financial reporting or operations, according to the release.
The county clerk’s responsibilities include collecting certain taxes, maintaining county records, issuing licenses and providing other services.
