A Flat Lick man was arrested Thursday after allegedly attempting to abduct a juvenile boy in Coldiron.

Charles Collins, 52, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Rodney Sturgill after he responded to a call of an older man allegedly trying to pick up a young male.

According to the citation, when Sturgill arrived several men were standing by with Collins. Collins had backed over an embankment and gotten the vehicle he was driving stuck. Collins advised Sturgill he had a 9mm handgun in his waistband. The gun was covered by Collins shirt.

The citation states the juvenile stated that Collins had offered him a ride home. When the juvenile refused the ride, Collins allegedly grabbed his arm and attempted to pull the juvenile into the vehicle. The juvenile broke away from Collins and ran home and told his mother.

Collins was charged with kidnapping a minor and carrying a concealed weapon.

Collins was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
