The Harlan Green Dragons earned their first district win with a 33-0 shutout victory at Jenkins on Friday.

“I thought we played real well. We controlled the line of scrimmage tonight,” said Harlan coach J.B. Donahue. “The line blocked well. They were the difference in the game.”

The Harlan defense put up the first score. The Green Dragons covered the Jenkins punter in the end zone after a bad snap to make it 2-0.

Tye Patrick scored the game’s opening touchdown when he went in on a 5-yard run. Tanner Parks found Andrew Brock on the two-point conversion to put the Dragons up 10-0 with 2:10 remaining in the half.

Parks came on in relief of starting quarterback Tanner Morris, who was forced to leave the game with an injury.

The HHS defense started the second half much like the first — with another safety. The Cavs were unable to connect on another punt snap. The play resulted in a safety that made it 12-0.

“The defense played assignment football and stayed disciplined. They executed what they had to do defensively,” said Donahue.

Cory Chorak scored on a 12-yard run later in the third quarter. Parks again found Brock for the two-point conversion as the lead grew to 20-0.

“Tanner stepped in and played real well. He threw a good deep ball to Colby (Wilson) and had couple of two-point conversions. I thought he managed the offense really well,” Donahue said.

Drew Middleton pushed the lead to 26-0 with a 45-yard touchdown run.

Peyton Dillman scored the game’s final touchdown on a 35-yard run. Boone Alison added the two-point conversion.

Harlan (2-7 overall, 1-2 district) will close the regular season next week at home against Haysi, Va. The Dragons will travel to Campbellsville in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Jenkins (1-8 overall, 0-3 district) will host Betsey Layne.
