An Evarts man has been indicted on charges in connection with an alleged theft occurring in July.
Joshua Shanks, 33, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Danny Caudill on Monday.
The three-count indictment states Shanks took property belonging to Gary Volmer valued at over $500 but under $10,000.
The indictment charges Shanks with selling a stolen vehicle to Baxter Metal on July 31. The vehicle belonged to Volmer.
Prior felony convictions in 2008 and 2012 led to Shanks being charged with persistent felony offender I in the same indictment.
Shanks was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,000 surety bond.

In other police activity, the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Paul Rigney, 37, of Ages, on Nov. 19 for being a fugitive from another state.
According to a press release, Rigney was arrested by Deputy Travis Freeman. Rigney is wanted in Tennessee on aggravated assault charges and in Kentucky for nonpayment of fines.
Rigney was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
