A single vehicle wreck in the Faith Temple area resulted in one person being killed and another sent to the hospital on Wednesday.
According to a report from Bell County Sheriff Deputy Shane Stewart, the driver of the vehicle, Dora Couch, 39, of Barbourville, died as a result of her injuries.
Couch was traveling southbound on U.S. 25E when her vehicle left the roadway. Stewart said witnesses stated the vehicle flipped about five times before coming to rest in a culvert on the northbound side of the highway.
A small male child was in the vehicle at the time of the wreck, but Stewart said the child appeared to be OK. He was transported to Pineville Community Hospital as a precaution.
Couch was originally suppose to be transported to a trauma center by Air Evac, but she was transported to Middlesboro ARH because of injuries sustained during the wreck. She later died at the hospital.
Stewart is the investigating officer for the wreck. He was assisted at the scene by deputies Carl Frith and Joel Quillen.
Other responders included Johnny Collins of the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Bell County Rescue Squad, Middlesboro EMS, Kentucky State Police, Bell County EMS and the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department.
