Cumberland Gap will be filled with art, wine and music on Saturday as the Cumberland Gap Artists’ Co-op hosts the Art Extravaganza from 6-9 p.m.
Tickets will be $25 and proceeds will benefit the Harrogate Book Station Children’s Program and library.
“The goal of the co-op is to spread art in this area and to share art and to provide a venue for many different types of artists and craftsmen to present art and this event goes with that goal,” said Kathy Matthews, an artist with the co-op.
More than 200 people are expected for the event, which is casual attire.
Festival Park in Cumberland Gap will be filled with musical arts from Papa Chums Music Shop, edible arts from The Pineapple Tea Room and visual arts that will be on display throughout the park from the co-op.
The event will also include a chocolate fountain and a silent auction with items that have been donated by local businesses and unique art made by members of the co-op.
Wine tasting will be provided by members of the Thunder Road/Great Valley Wine Trail, which is an eastern Tennessee-based group of wineries including Watauga Lake Winery, Spout Spring Estates, Good Water Vineyards, Eagle Springs Winery and the Winery at Seven Springs Farm.
“I know the event has raised a few eyebrows, but we wanted it to be an event where people could come out and enjoy the art and perhaps buy some art at a silent auction price. We wanted (the ticket price) to not be prohibitive, but to allow people to get in and enjoy it,” said Matthews.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or by calling the co-op at 423-869-5935.
LMU Convention Center has donated their space, in case of rainy weather.
