Lane closure on Big Low Road in Harlan Co.

Traffic reduced to 1 lane to repair sinking roadway

MANCHESTER — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 11 office advises motorists of a lane closure on KY 3455 (Big Low Road) in Harlan County at mile point 0.32, which began on Monday.

Crews closed the eastbound (south side) lane of Big Low Road to excavate the current damaged road surface, reconstruct the subsurface with rock to prevent future sinking and then restore the road surface. The scheduled completion date is June 4.

While the lane is closed a flag crew will control traffic. Motorists are asked to approach and travel through the area with caution.

The date, time and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
