A Loyall man is facing charges including resisting arrest and fleeing or evading police after he allegedly ran on to a roof to evade police attempting to serve him with an indictment warrant.
Robert A. Marlowe, 32, was arrested by Loyall City Police Chief Mike Lunsford on Friday.
According to the citation, Marlowe took off running through a residence when police arrived to serve him with a warrant for theft by unlawful taking and persistent felony offender. Marlowe ran up the stairs to the bathroom and crawled out onto the roof refusing to come down. Marlowe ran around on the roof for 10 to 15 minutes. Lunsford almost fell through the ceiling while attempting to catch him. Marlowe then knocked out a window, almost striking an officer. Loyall City Police Officer Mitch Alford and Harlan City Police Officers Scott Bailey and Terry Jacobs kept Marlowe in sight on the roof while Lunsford contacted a fire unit to request a ladder so Marlowe could be removed from the roof. Before a ladder was necessary, Marlowe surrendered and went back into the house through a window, at which time Lunsford handcuffed him and placed him into custody.
Marlowe was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, first-degree wanton endangerment and persistent felony offender. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 full cash bond.
