Preschool screenings continue


Courtesy of Harlan County Schools Preschool and kindergarten screenings began last week in the Harlan County School District, with the first stop at James A. Cawood Elementary School. The Dial 4 screenings are used to assess motor skills, concepts, vision, hearing and language. The screenings will help teachers to determine the individual needs of students. The screenings are free and offered as a service by the Harlan County Board of Education and KCEOC Head Start to all children who will be attending preschool or kindergarten in the Harlan County Schools and Head Start centers. The remaining screenings will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following schools: Evarts Elementary School, Tuesday; Cawood Elementary School, Wednesday; and Cumberland Elementary School, Thursday.
