Blasting operations begin on KY 38

MANCHESTER — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a contract to Frederick & May Construction in the amount of $1,932,939 to improve safety on KY 38 in Harlan County between Davis Lane (mile point 10.0) and Tom Coal Road (mile point 10.2).

Work will consist of rock slope cut revisions to provide fall benches and minor widening. Blasting operations are scheduled to begin today at various times and will occur on a daily basis until the work is complete. Estimated project completion date is Aug. 15.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect long delays and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
