Crash near High Rise

Two women were transported to Harlan ARH Hospital following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of KY 38 and Main Street on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Harlan City Police Department Officer Derrick Noe, a 2004 Jeep Liberty and 2007 Volkswagen collided as the Jeep crossed KY 38 on Main Street. The Jeep was driven by Marcus Middleton Jr., 25, of Evarts. Jimmy Fields, 56, was a passenger in the Jeep. The Volkswagen was operated by Linda Lawson, 63, of Evarts. Vickie Lindsey, 61, of Evarts, was a passenger in the Volkswagen.

Lawson and Lindsey were transported by ambulance to Harlan ARH Hospital to be treated for injuries. Fields arranged for his own transportation to Harlan ARH Hospital. Police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Harlan City Police Department, a Harlan ambulance service and the Harlan City Fire Department responded to the scene.
