BIMBLE — Kentucky State Police Trooper Jay Sowders is investigating a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 25E that occurred in the Bimble community of Knox County on Tuesday night.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs said a preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jerry Caldwell, 59, of Pathfork, was traveling north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 25E. Caldwell struck a 2006 Nissan Sentra driven by Diane McCann, 48, of Rutledge, Tennessee. McCann was traveling south on U.S. 25E.

Jacobs said both drivers were transported to Knox County ARH for the injuries they sustained. McCann was later released from the hospital for minor injuries. Caldwell was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for his injuries.

Alcohol is suspected with the driver of the Jeep Cherokee and charges are pending, Jacobs said in a press release.

The collision is still under investigation by Sowders.
