Evarts Elementary School took top honors in the District 82 Kentucky Governor’s Cup academic competition on Friday at Green Hills Elementary School.

Harlan Middle School finished second, followed by Black Mountain, Cumberland and Green Hills.

Individual assessment results included:

Quick Recall: Evarts, first; Harlan, second; Cumberland, third; Black Mountain fourth; and Green Hills, fifth.

Future Problem Solving: Harlan, first; Evarts, second; and Black Mountain third.

Mathematics: Caleb Ashley, Green Hills, first; Lauren Nunez, Harlan, second; Christian Boggs, Evarts, third; Christian Boggs, Evarts, and Makenna Doss, Harlan, tie for fourth.

Science: Bryson Lee, Harlan, first; Cameryn Aslinger, Evarts, second; Landon Perkins, Black Mountain, third; Emily Smith, Cumberland, fourth; and Brittany Dummit, Black Mountain, fifth.

Social Studies: Caleb Brock, Evarts, first; Hailey Middleton, second, Black Mountain; Kaylee Mefford, Evarts, third; Andrew Benson, Harlan, fourth; and Michael Canterbury , Evarts, and Hannah Amburgey, Harlan, tied for fifth.

Language Arts: Kaylee Mefford, Evarts, first; Paighton Freeman, Evarts, second; James Pinkley, Cumberland, third; Bree Carr, Harlan, fourth; and Lauren Nunez, Harlan, fifth.

Arts and Humanities: Mady Haynes, Cumberland, first; Caleb Brock, Evarts, second; Adeline Allison, Harlan, third; Jace Howard, Black Mountain, fourth; and Trey Brock, Cumberland, fifth.

Composition: Makenna Doss, Harlan, first; Bree Carr, Harlan, second; Elizabeth Howard, Green Hills, third; Brielle Farley, Evarts, fourth; and Brittany Dummit, Harlan, fifth.

Harlan Middle School will host the regional competition on Feb. 13.
