Body Rock Studio, owned and operated by Tina and Ronnie Shoope, recently held their grand opening event. The studio is located at 306 Carter Avenue in Loyall School near Loyall City Hall in room No. 7.
During the event, sample classes were provided including PiYo, Turbo Kick and CIZE. All classes were taught by Tina, a certified instructor.
Door Prizes were also given away and Shakeology samples provided. Sarah Hobbs and Flora Asher from the Harlan County Chamber of Commerce were in attendance.
“My desire is to have this place (Body Rock Studio) where people can come to do something kind for themselves. We so often get caught up in day-to-day living with such busy schedules and obligations that we don’t always take the time we should for ourselves,” Tina said.
She continued, “It’s very important that we have balance in our lives. We need time to rejuvenate, to unwind, to de-stress and to simply “be” in the moment; letting all of our cares and worries of life leave us for a time. I believe this helps us to be at our best when we return to care for our loved ones and better able to cope with all the responsibilities, cares and concerns that life often throws our way.”
A variety of group fitness class formats is offered including:
• PiYo, a Pilates and yoga inspired workout set to music. Pilates inspires the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of this workout while yoga inspires strength and flexibility. This workout uses your body to define your body providing the participant with a fat-burning, low-impact workout that promotes a long, lean and defined body. No weights are needed and the workout is done with little or no impact so there is no harmful jumping to damage the joints.
• CIZE, defined as “the end of exercise.” This workout exercises the mind and body as you learn and then execute a choreographed dance routine. The movements are easy to learn but hard to work so you get cardiovascular conditioning, core strengthening, and overall muscle toning. You actually forget you are exercising and before you know it class is over, your dripping in sweat, burned a ton of calories, all while having a great time. It is great for every age group and anyone can do it.
• Turbo Kick, a workout that combines intense kickboxing and dance moves perfectly choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It is a high intensity, cardiovascular workout that incorporates intense strength and endurance training intervals with a relaxing cool down.
The Body Rock Studio class schedule includes: Turbo Kick — first and third Sunday of each month at 6p.m.; CIZE — Mondays at 7 p.m.; PiYo Prep (beginner’s class) — Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-6:30 p.m.; and PiYo Power (intermediate and advanced class) — Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m.
All formats are accessible to every age group (10 years and older) and every fitness level. Modifications are shown for each workout so that anyone can participate.
Tina also provides private sessions by appointment only.
All classes are $6 each, five classes for $24 (one class free) or $50 monthly membership (unlimited classes which provides a savings of over $75). Parking is available in the Loyall city parking lots, No. 1, along with street parking.
Tina noted, “I want people to come to a class, smile, have a great time, make new friends, to simple “be” in the moment, and feel refreshed when they leave. Exercise makes us happy and it makes me happy to be a part of providing this service to the people of my community.”
