Bledsoe man charged with trafficking

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Bledsoe man with drug trafficking charges.

Robert W. Scearse, 62, of Bledsoe, was arrested on Thursday by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Danny Lewis.

The arrest was a result of an ongoing investigation by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives. The case had been presented to the Harlan County Grand Jury and an indictment had been returned.

Through the course of an undercover investigation Scearse was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and illegal sale of alcohol in a dry territory.

The case remains under the investigation of Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives. Scearse was arrested and posted a $5,000 unsecured bond.

In other police news, Jason Rice, 45, of Evarts, was arrested on a charge of theft by deception $10,000 or more. He is lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set.
