The Harlan County Chamber of Commerce discussed details of the organization’s upcoming website during a meeting on Wednesday.
Chamber member Aimee Blanton updated the group on the site’s progress.
“We are close to a new website,” Blanton said. “Brandon Pennington and I are meeting tomorrow — and this has been in the works for the last year — all the information is there, we’ve just got to tweak some things and get some more details added.”
Blanton gave members a head’s-up concerning content they want included on the website.
“If your information is not correct or it’s not on there, and needs to be added or adjusted, let me know,” said Blanton. “That way we can get that done and hopefully we’ll be able to share with you what it’s going to look like before it goes live. I’m really excited about it.”
Blanton said the new website will be easier to maintain.
“We won’t have to call or email somebody (to update the website), we’ll be able to go in the backdoor and do that ourselves,” Blanton said.
Chamber President Flora Asher mentioned to the group there is going to be a special-called meeting soon.
“We will have a special-called meeting on Jan. 20 at noon at The Portal,” Asher said. “Our guest speaker is going to be the president and CEO of Harlan ARH Hospital. He’s coming to discuss new economic endeavors for Harlan County. We are very excited about the news they’re going to talk about next week.”
Asher asked all chamber members to attempt to get five people each to attend the special-called meeting.
“We have a new motto…that I love,” Asher said. “‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’…I think this group will agree we need to get up and running now to help and support our community and the economics in this town.”
