The Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College family is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Former SKCTC Board of Directors Chairman Reecie Stagnolia died Monday in Knoxville after a long illness. He was 79 years old.
Stagnolia served on the board for many years, and was the chairman of the board from 2008 until he stepped down from that position in 2015.
He was also a former Harlan County schools superintendent, former branch manager of Commercial Bank in Cumberland and served on many local boards.
SKCTC President Dr. Lynn Moore praised Stagnolia for his dedication not only to Southeast but also the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.
“He worked hard to serve his community, and was a dedicated supporter and SKCTC Board Chairman for many years.” said Moore. “We all will greatly miss him.”
Visitation for Stagnolia will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, located at 408 Spring Street in Cumberland. His funeral will begin at 7 p.m., also at the church.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Saturday with military honors at the Jake Creech Cemetery in Cumberland.
