Kentucky State Police are investigating an alleged theft of equipment from a logging site.

According to a press release, Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan, received a call on Jan. 7 about a theft that occurred in Cloverlick. Trooper Jared Boggs responded to the scene and began an investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates that a model 4400 CSI Flasher saw, which is a piece of logging equipment, was stolen from a logging site in the area between Tuesday and Thursday. The saw is valued at approximately $20,000.

Kentucky State Police is asking for assistance from the public about information on this case. Anyone with information may contact Post 10 at 606-573-3131 and remain anonymous. The case is under investigation by Boggs.

In other police news:

• Cassey Bryant, 31, and Dewayne Harris, 30, both of Harlan, were arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Matt Cope on Thursday.

The warrants state that Bryant and Harris robbed a man at gunpoint on Dec. 25. Both were charged with first-degree robbery and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

• Tracy Dixon, 42, was arrested on an indictment warrant on Thursday by Harlan City Police Officer Mike Boggs. Dixon was indicted for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond;

• Hershel L. Starrett, 57, of Lejunior, was arrested on Friday by Harlan City Police Sgt. Jeff Owens. He was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and prescription controlled substance not in original container. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Angel Lynn Napier, 25, of Evarts, was arrested on Friday by Evarts City Police Chief Lupe Blas. She was charged with first- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in original container. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond secured by 10 percent.
