Days after making several huge announcements concerning his personal and professional life, Harlan County native and Season 9 winner of The Voice, Jordan Smith has made yet another huge announcement — he will be performing at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday.
Smith made the announcement about the People’s Choice Awards on social media Tuesday, just days after announcing his engagement to his girlfriend of three years, Kristen Denny, and sharing photos of his latest performances — singing the national anthem at both the 2016 NHL Winter Classic in Boston, Massachusetts, and the UK basketball game at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
Smith started his post by saying he was happy to tell his fans that he had already been in the studio working on his first album.
According to the post, Smith has been collaborating with music legend David Foster on the album. Smith cites Foster’s previous work before saying what a huge deal the partnership was for the up and coming artist. Foster is a 16-time Grammy winning record producer and musician who has worked with the likes of Michael Buble and Josh Groban.
Smith went on to say the duo will be taking a break from recording just long enough to perform together Wednesday night at the People’s Choice Awards. The show is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. on CBS.
The People’s Choice Awards is an American awards show, recognizing the people and the work of popular culture, voted on by the general public. The show has been held annually since 1975.
A CD of Smith’s performances on the show made it to shelves at Walmart’s throughout the country just in time for the holidays. A release date for his new CD has yet to be announced.
Fans can keep up-to-date with Smith’s events by following him on social media.
