Man airlifted to UT following Pineville wreck

A two-car collision on U.S. 25E resulted in one individual being transported to UT Medical Center on Friday. The crash occurred at the south floodgate in Pineville.

According to Pineville Police Department Det. Kevin Goodin, Walter Shelton, of Page, was airlifted to UT Medical to be treated for injuries. Others involved were transported to Pineville Community Hospital for treatment.

Goodin said a green Plymouth Breeze driven by Ronnie Taylor, 31, of Pineville, was traveling north on U.S. 25E when it veered into the southbound lane. The vehicle collided with a silver SUV driven by Shelton.

The Plymouth caught fire after the collision and the SUV came to rest on its side.

Following the crash, the Bell County Rescue Squad had to extricate Shelton from the vehicle before transporting him to UT.

According to Goodin, Taylor will be charged with DUI and other charges are pending.

Other responding agencies include Bell County EMS, Bell County Volunteer Fire Department and the Pineville Fire Department.
