Kentucky State Police troopers are on Mountain Drive following up on two phone calls from other police agencies concerning a possible dead body.

According to KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs, Post 10 received phone calls from authorities in Georgia and Wisconsin concerning the possibility of a dead body on Mountain Drive just past The Bridge to Nowhere. Jacobs said authorities from the other agencies described a box to KSP and said the box potentially had a dead body inside.

KSP, Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Bell County Rescue Squad and the Bell County Coroner Office are all on scene and believe they have located the box described to them by the other agencies.

According to Jacobs, once the box is brought up the embankment, authorities will either open it on scene or at a local funeral home.

The Harlan Daily Enterprise will post more details as they become available.
