On this weeks live results showing of the hit reality show “The Voice,” Harlan native Jordan Smith found out he is one week closer to winning the grand prize — a recording contract.
Smith was one of the first to find out his fate, as it was announced his fans had voted him through to the top 10.
Smith continues to top iTunes charts and garner millions of additional YouTube videos each week, as fans flock to the internet to buy his songs and watch his performances.
As of press time, this weeks performance of Jesse J’s ‘Who You Are’ was still at the top of The Voice iTunes chart, hanging in at the No. 2 spot. The song was also still on the Top 100 iTunes chart, coming in at 28. ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness’ is Smith’s next ranking performance, coming in at spots 5 and 68, followed by ‘Halo’ at No. 12 and 177.
Smith currently has over 34 million YouTube views, as fans watch and re-watch his Voice performances everyday.
Back home in Harlan, watch parties continue to take place as hometown supporters gather at the Harlan Center to watch Smith continue to shine a positive light on the hills of Appalachia.
Fans may follow Smith’s progress on his Facebook page and Twitter and can now download his performances on iTunes — which is factored into the voting process. If Smith gets enough iTunes purchases, his votes are multiplied by ten. This factor has likely contributed to his success thus far on the show, as his iTunes rankings have been at the top since his debut performance of Sias’ ‘Chandelier.’
There are several additional ways to vote for Smith. You can use “The Voice” app as well as vote via NBC.com and “The Voice” Facebook page.”The Voice” airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
Smith will be among the top 10 performers on Monday nights show and then fans will be able to vote on his performance until noon on Tuesday. The top nine contestants will be announced live on Tuesday night, with the top eight being announced and then the bottom two performing one last time for America’s votes in an instant save.
