A Baxter man is facing drug charges after police executed a search warrant at his residence.
Gill S. Brown, 72, was arrested on Tuesday by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release, the deputies executed a search warrant at Brown’s residence on Ridge Road off of Airport Road. The search warrant was a result of an undercover investigation that was initiated by the sheriff’s office after receiving complaints of illegal drug activity taking place at the residence. Upon execution of the search warrant, deputies located oxycodone and Xanax pills inside his residence. Also located was a prescription for 120 oxycodone that was filled on Nov. 17. Eight pills remained. Police also seized three weapons, $1,600 cash and $14,000 in cashier’s checks that were written to Brown.
Brown was arrested and charged with first- and third-degree trafficking a controlled substance and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives were assisted by Sheriff Leslie “Smitty” Smith, Chief Deputy Matt Cope and Deputy Travis Freeman.
The case remains under investigation by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives.
