Several people were arrested on non-drug related charges during the roundup. Deputy Danny Lewis arrested Demarcus Monroe at Wallins Creek on an active child support warrant.

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office conducted a roundup throughout Harlan County on Wednesday. Those arrested included alleged drug offenders and several were picked up on various warrants.

According to Harlan County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Matt Cope, the roundup was a result of undercover drug investigations by Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives.

Cope said the deputies were assisted by Kentucky State Police troopers, officers with the Harlan, Loyall, Cumberland, Benham and Evarts police departments.

“The sheriff’s office was attempting to serve 28 indictment warrants for drug trafficking,” Cope said. “At this time, 17 people have been arrested on the indictments and four additional arrest warrants for other charges have been served. Additional warrants are outstanding and additional arrests are pending. Undercover drug investigations continue by the sheriff’s office.”

The following people were arrested on various charges, they include:

*David Morris, 62, of Benham, trafficking marijuana (less than 8 ounces);

*Ralph Fleenor, 54, of Loyall, trafficking marijuana (less than 8 ounces);

*Jerry Collett, 59, of Coldiron, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender;

*Ray Lamb, 51, of Hulen, two counts of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Tice Grubbs, 40, of Cawood, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender;

*Clarence Grubbs, 37, of Cawood, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender, FTA;

*John Woje, 57, of Loyall, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Robert Jackson, 27, of Baxter, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Judy Peace, 53, of Loyall, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Freddie Westfelt, 40, of Loyall, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender;

*Jeremy Barker, 35, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Bonnie Lewis (Collett), 51, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender;

*Brad Mullins, 35, of Kenvir, first- and third-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Lawrence Middleton, 71, of Fairview, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Crystal Lester, 40, of Dayhoit, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and persistent felony offender;

*Danny Woodard, 51, of Harlan, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

*Alan Eversole, of Dayhoit, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance.

Also arrested on bench warrants were:

* Demarcus Monroe, of Wallins, child support;

*Mary Jane Ward, of Loyall, child support;

*Josh Shanks, of Evarts, failure to appear.
