Lane closures scheduled for 4 sections of U.S. 119 in Harlan Co.

FRANKFORT — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that U.S. 119 will be reduced to one lane at mile points 22.4, 27.2, 27.7 and 35.6 in Harlan County for bridge inspections.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions at mile point 22.4 and 22.7 on Oct. 19 while lane closures at mile point 27.7 and 35.6 are scheduled for Oct. 20.

Crews are scheduled to inspect the bridge at mile point 22.4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon and mile point 27.2 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Traffic at both mile points will be reduced to one lane in each direction and will be controlled by flag crews.

Crews are scheduled to inspect the bridge at mile point 27.7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Oct. 20. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and will be controlled by flag crews.

Crews are scheduled to inspect the bridge at mile point 35.6 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 20. Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane while northbound traffic will be unaffected.

Work is scheduled to begin Oct. 19 and is expected to end Oct. 20 but all work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

Motorists are asked to use extra caution when approaching and traveling through the work zone.
