A woman and two men are facing methamphetamine-related charges after police followed up on complaints received concerning drug activity at a residence in Jones Creek.

Joey Blevins, 37, of Closplint, Joshua Andy Blevins, 24, of Kenvir, and Nancy Short, 45, of Closplint, were arrested on Monday by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s office was acting upon drug complaints that had been received when they discovered through investigation the residence was occupied by Joey Blevins, who was on supervised probation. The sheriff’s office along with the Office of Probation and Parole responded to the residence to make contact. Upon arrival several subjects attempted to flee from the residence and were apprehended shortly thereafter. While Joey Blevins was fleeing he was observed throwing a container to the ground later discovered to contain methamphetamine and marijuana. Through further investigation several baggies of meth, marijuana, syringes, other controlled substances, scales, and additional rolling papers, baggies and cash was discovered. A loaded AR15 rifle was also located in the residence.

Joey Blevins was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, fist-degree trafficking in controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, possession of controlled substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.

Joshua Andy Blevins, 24, of Kenvir was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading, second-degree trafficking in controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana and possession of controlled substance.

Nancy Short, 45, of Closplint was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading, second-degree trafficking in controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana and possession of controlled substance. All three were lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.

The case remains under the investigation by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputies Denny Jones and Philip Ely. Additional arrests are pending.

In other police activity:

• William Foley, 39, was arrested on Monday by Ely on an indictment warrant for second-degree burglary and public intoxication and a warrant for Contempt of Court. Foley was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

• Said Chater, 31, Loyall, was arrested by Harlan City Police Officer Michael Scott on Sunday. He was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, no operators-moped license and speeding. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
