Reduced weight restrictions have been lifted

MANCHESTER — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has lifted the posted weight restriction of 3 tons for a Harlan County bridge (mile point 34.8 in Cumberland) that carries U.S. 119 over KY 160 and Looney Creek.

After recent inspections, it has been determined that the posting level for the bridge should be listed as below:

· Type 1 Truck = 20 Tons

· Type 2 Truck = 27 Tons

· Type 3 Truck = 34 Tons

· Type 4 Truck = 40 Tons

· SUV 5+ Axles = 40 Tons

· Superloads are restricted along the route until repairs can be made

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to use the signed detour for alternate routes, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
