Police arrest 20 on trafficking charges

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachia Narcotics Investigations team conducted a drug roundup on Thursday, netting approximately 20 individuals on drug charges.

According to a press release, the roundup was a combined effort resulting from undercover drug investigations conducted by the two entities. The Appalachia Narcotics Investigations team is made up of members from the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office, the Kentucky State Police, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office and the Pineville City Police Department. Also assisting in the detail were officers from Harlan City Police Department, Loyall City Police Department, Cumberland City Police Department and Evarts City Police Department.

The release states the agencies’ combined efforts resulted in 23 individuals being sought on 36 charges stemming from investigations conducted by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and an additional nine individuals being sought on 21 charges related to investigations conducted by members from the Appalachia Narcotics Investigative Team. At this time, 20 people have been arrested in relation to drug trafficking and one additional arrest warrant for other charges has been served. Additional warrants are outstanding and additional arrests are pending.

The press release states the following individuals were arrested on trafficking and other charges: Dusty Asburry, 59, felony trafficking; Frank Gross, 65, felony trafficking; Ramon Fidel Morales, 51, felony trafficking; Deanna Saylor, 51, felony trafficking; Carl Eddie Collins, 51, felony trafficking; Bill Howard, 54, felony trafficking; Gerald Foster, 48, felony trafficking and persistent felony offender; John Woje, 57, felony trafficking; Melissa A, Hensley, 46, felony trafficking and persistent felony offender; Deryan E. Caldwell, 35, felony trafficking and persistent felony offender; Betty A. Fee, 52, felony trafficking; Lynwood P. Fee, 54, felony trafficking; Roger Gibson, 50, misdemeanor trafficking; Abraham Hearld III, 36, felony trafficking; Ernest Roper, 25, felony trafficking; Robert Morton, 58, felony trafficking; James Halcomb, 31, felony trafficking; James B. Osborn, 24, felony trafficking; Brandon Brock, 31, felony trafficking; Johnny Bush, 61, felony trafficking.
