A pair of women were jailed on drug charges after a traffic stop led to their arrest on Friday.

Lonnie Lucas, 59, of Whitesburg, and April Johnson, 42, of Partridge, were arrested by Cumberland City Police Officer Zack Smith and Sgt. John Teagle.

According to the citations, police received a complaint on a white Cadillac driven by Lucas, who was allegedly driving under the influence. Smith and Teagle stopped the vehicle. While Smith asked Lucas for his license, Teagle noticed a clear plastic baggie containing three small clear plastic baggies with a white powdery substance suspected to be methamphetamine inside. Neither Lucas nor Johnson claimed ownership of the substance.

Lucas was arrested by Smith and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond secured by 10 percent.

Johnson was arrested by Teagle on a charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond secured by 10 percent.

In other police activity:

• Angela R. Robbins, 26, of Baxter, was arrested on Friday on an indictment warrant by the Harlan County Sheriff’s’s Office. According to the indictment, Robbins engaged in sexual intercourse with a male less than 16 years of age on Feb. 1. The indictment also state Robbins provided a minor less than 16 years of age with marijuana. She was indicted for two counts of third-degree rape and two counts of unlawful transaction with a minor. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond;

• Jesse Hubert Brock, 35, of Wallins Creek, was indicted in a Bell County for public intoxication by a controlled substance, first-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree terroristic threatening for events that occurred on or around March 22;

• Jacob Begley, 36, of Evarts, was arrested on an indictment warrant by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Freeman on Sunday. Begley was indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment (two counts), two counts of fourth-degree assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond;

• Stephen Burgin, 34, of Cranks, was arrested by HCSO Deputy Denny Jones on an indictment warrant on Saturday. He was indicted for cultivating marijuana (five plants or more) and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.
