The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals in the River Ridge community Wednesday on various charges.
According to a press release, the sheriff’s office had received numerous complaints from the neighborhood concerning drug activity around a residence on Tyree Lane. The residence was occupied by Brandi Clark.
“It was discovered that Clark was recently sentenced to probation in Harlan Circuit Court on drug charges from a previous sheriff’s office drug case,” said Chief Deputy Matt Cope. “We contacted Probation and Parole and accompanied them on a home visit at the residence. We were also attempting to serve a Harlan County District Court bench warrant.”
Cope said after observing Clark inside the residence she refused to open the door and deputies forced entry into the residence.
“Upon making entry Clark was discovered hiding in a room inside the residence,” Cope said. “During a search of the residence, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia was located inside the residence. Upon arriving at the Harlan County Detention Center, Clark was searched by a deputy jailer and a container with additional controlled substances was discovered concealed on her body.”
Clark, 30, of Evarts, was arrested by Deputy Travis Freeman and charged with two counts of third-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, promoting contraband and prescription controlled substance not in original container. An active Harlan County District Court bench warrant was also served. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
Cope said Ronnie J. Penny was also located inside the residence. It was discovered that he had an active Harlan County Circuit Court indictment. Penny, 31, of Evarts, was arrested on the indictment for second-degree burglary and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
Freeman was assisted at the residence by Cope, Harlan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives and Probation and Parole.
