Help our community “Paint the Town Purple” in celebration of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Harlan County. You can show your support in the fight against cancer by participating in “Paint the Town Purple” the week of June 13 with a display, bows, ribbons or whatever you choose, for all to see.
The American Cancer Society’s mission is to save lives from cancer, by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.
“Paint the Town Purple” kicks off cancer awareness the week prior to the Relay for Life event from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on June 17 at Huff Park in Harlan.
“Paint the Town Purple” is a great way to show united community support and decorate your store front, office, window or building. Judging will take place in six categories: Education, medical, large business, small business, church and bank.
Awards will be given for first (trophy), second and third places (ribbons in each category).
The main requirement is that the color purple be used in your display as it signifies cancer awareness and encompasses all cancer types. You are only limited by your imagination.
“Paint the Town Purple” displays will be photographed and judged on June 16 and winners will be announced at the Relay for Life event at 7:30 p.m.
For more information and to have your entry on the list to be judged, contact Roxanne Rose at 606-224-7070.
Don’t forget to register yourself, your team or a survivor at www.relayforlife.org/harlanky. There is still time.
